Which regional pass?

Berner Oberland Pass or Jungfrau Travel Pass?

What each one costs and covers in 2026, and which to buy for a stay in the Lauterbrunnen valley. Checked against the operators’ own pages.

Calendar/Berner Oberland Pass vs Jungfrau Travel Pass

The short answer. If you are staying in the Lauterbrunnen valley or Grindelwald and the Jungfraujoch is on your list, the Jungfrau Travel Pass is usually the one. If the Schilthorn matters more, you are arriving by train from Lucerne or Bern, or you want day trips beyond the Jungfrau region, the Berner Oberland Pass usually wins. If you are only doing one or two big trips, neither: a Half Fare Card and single tickets are often cheaper, and the pass calculator will tell you.

What each pass costs

Adult, second class, consecutive days, from the operators’ own price pages, checked 23 September 2026. Children aged 6 to 15 pay a flat CHF 30 on either pass.

You are doing one or two big excursions and mostly walking from the valley. A Half Fare Card (CHF 150 for a month) halves almost everything, the Schilthorn included, and on a short trip it often beats both passes. The honest way to know is to put your actual days into the pass calculator, which prices all of these against single tickets and tells you when no pass is worth it.

More on the two big summits: is the Jungfraujoch worth it? and the Schilthorn from Lauterbrunnen.

Common questions

Berner Oberland Pass vs Jungfrau Travel Pass, answered

Is the Jungfrau Travel Pass or the Berner Oberland Pass better?

For a stay in the Lauterbrunnen valley or Grindelwald with the Jungfraujoch on the list, the Jungfrau Travel Pass is usually better: it is cheaper for the same days and has the cheapest Jungfraujoch connecting ticket. The Berner Oberland Pass is better if the Schilthorn is your priority, if you arrive by train from Bern or Lucerne, or if you want day trips beyond the Jungfrau region.

Does the Berner Oberland Pass include the Schilthorn?

Yes. The Schilthorn tariff lists the Berner Oberland Pass at CHF 0, so the cable car is free all the way to the summit. The Jungfrau Travel Pass only covers the trip to Mürren; the cable car from Mürren to the top is then CHF 91.40 return.

Does either pass include the Jungfraujoch?

No pass covers it in full. With the Jungfrau Travel Pass you buy a connecting ticket from Eigergletscher, CHF 63 in winter and CHF 89 from May to October. The Berner Oberland Pass gives a reduced fare on the Jungfrau railways, but not that connecting ticket.

How much is the Berner Oberland Pass in 2026?

CHF 240 for 3 days, 280 for 4, 350 for 6, 395 for 8 and 435 for 10, adult second class. With a Half Fare Card or Swiss Travel Pass it is CHF 168 for 3 days. Children aged 6 to 15 pay a flat CHF 30.
