Guided night sledging, snowshoeing, a first ski lesson, ice climbing, and the summer thrills that keep running in the snow.

The snow does not stop the adrenaline, it changes it. Some of the summer activities keep going in winter, and a few things only exist when it is cold.

Guided sledging

You do not need a guide to sledge here: the closest run, Sulwald down to Isenfluh on this valley’s western side, is easy and you can hire a sledge locally. See our sledging guide. What the guided night sledging adds is the evening: a run by torchlight, with transport from Interlaken and everything organised.

Snowshoeing and a first ski lesson

A guided snowshoe walk near Interlaken needs no experience and gets you into quiet winter forest. If you have never skied, the all-inclusive beginner packages from Interlaken include the kit, which takes most of the hassle out of a first day. Read skiing from Lauterbrunnen for the bigger picture.

Ice climbing

For people who want to learn a real skill rather than tick a box: multi-day courses on the frozen waterfalls of Kandersteg.

Still running in winter

Tandem paragliding over Interlaken, the jetboat and the kayak tours on Lake Brienz all run in winter. Paragliding from Mürren moves to a higher take-off in winter; see paragliding.
